I've Been Scammed By My Own Colour

I came across a student based beauty pageant the other day and decided to give it a look because I am a liker of things and it was tweeted by a reliable source

I followed @FaceOfVarsitySA and from there on went through their links and registered online, a few hours go by and I receive an email that demands me to pay R100 into their bank account, as a good citizen I did what was expected of me

Later in the day I went through their website and got the castings dates, in the week of the castings, dates have been changed but we weren't notified, before the day of UJ auditions I asked the lady that runs this Competition on BBM "what is happening with UJ auditions, where is the venue" this is what she said to me "I don't think there will be UJ auditions, please come to wits quickly and have your audition there" going to wits was not a problem but how does an organiser of a beauty pageant be so unprofessional, I had classes on the day and UJ students were not notified about the cancellations

I really wanted to be part of the pageant so I took matters into my own hands and tried helping face of varsity by having auditions on my campus, since I knew people from the src and they sent an email to the chairperson, I went to his office and spoke to him and he gave me contact details to give to face of varsity to tell the guy what time they would be getting here

Later that night I asked "are we still having auditions" and then I was told "no, we'll be having auditions on Saturday at campus square" okay then saturday comes I ask "auditions still at campus square?" I was told no! UJ students qualify automatically & then she puts up her status. What pisses me off the most is that they were so unprepared, if I didn't ask what's going on, we wouldn't have known anything, no sms's, emails were sent out, if one knew better, you would think I was the one running after contestants to get them involved in my little project!

I've got one question though, if this is as serious as they claim are we not supposed to get sms's and emails to let us know about upcoming events and knockout rounds, instead we see these things on fb.. And worst of all they skipped UJ and only on Thursday or Friday was our names up on fb, there too was the details of a meeting in PTA but no central meeting point was organised for transport, instead there was transport for PTA students and they had to pay a fee of R10 for their transport to take them to the park where the meeting was

I still think the way I was treated is cause I am black and fat!!! I would have felt better if I was told no we don't want plus sized models, this would have been better, some world peace atleast!!!

Nevermind how I was treated but these people said "a STUDENT based beauty pageant" they never kept in mind that we are students and students coming from JHB would need to take 3 taxis to PTA depending on which area they're coming from

But ohhhh well i guess it is another situation of "you win some, you lose some"
